Premium Funding 2023/24

Norton in Hales CE Primary School Pupil Premium Grant (includes catch up funding and recovery funding due to the Covid 19 pandemic 

Pupil premium funding is an allocation of funding by the Government to help schools ensure the children who may be vulnerable or disadvantaged are enabled to make appropriate progress in their learning.  The Pupil Premium funding is based on the number of pupils eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) in any of the previous 6 years.  It also includes looked after children and pupils eligible for the Service children funding in the last 3 years.  Schools are required to report on the amount of Pupil Premium allocated and how it is being used.

The DfE, the Local Authority and the school have data to enable us to compile a list of pupils eligible for Pupil Premium funding.  All pupil’s individual targets are closely monitored by Mrs Angela Alkureishi Headteacher, Mrs Theresa Buckley, Teacher and SENCo and Richard Wakelin, Link Governor and reported to the Governing Body.  Termly assessment data is analysed and individual pupil’s progress discussed termly during Pupil Progress Meetings.  Individual Class teachers the SENCo, Headteacher and Governors closely monitor the impact of Pupil Premium funding on the progress and attainment of pupils eligible, as well as tracking all pupils in school. From September 2016 the Pupil Premium Provision Map is updated termly at Pupil Progress meetings and analysis is compiled to show the progress of FSM/Non-FSM.

The 2023/24 Pupil Premium funding for or school is £21,045. The Pupil Premium Grant includes pupils on the annual census.  The funding is allocated to initiatives to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially.  We strive to ensure that all pupils at Norton in Hales CE Primary School make expected levels of progress each year.  Pupil Premium funding is spent on supporting individual pupils in the classroom by providing Quality First Teaching, targeted intervention,  behaviour support and curriculum enhanced activities and experiences.

How do you know if your child can access this funding?

From September 2014 all children who are in reception, year 1 or year 2 in a state-funded school are offered a free healthy school lunch. From January 2015 all children under five receive free milk and all children in receipt of free schools meals (FSM) are offered free milk.

Those children who are five and over and not in receipt of FSM are able to register for milk online at www.coolmilk.co.uk 

Pupil Premium funding is given to schools based on eligibility for Free School Meals over the last 6 years (excluding the infant free school meals provision).  Your child will be eligible for Free School Meals (and additional Pupil Premium funding for the school to support your child) if you or your partner are receiving any of the following benefits: 

  • Income Support.
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income of £16,190 or less, as assessed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs

Why register?

Registering could raise money for your child's education.  Registering for free meals and pupil premium could raise an extra £1,320 for the school, to fund valuable support like extra tuition, additional teaching staff or after school activities.

It is therefore important to sign up for free school meals/pupil premium as this involves more than a free school lunch and your child's school will receive extra funding to ensure your child gets support should they need it.
