Today the children have run their hearts out as they threw themselves into the Rudolph Relay, in support of Severn Hospice.
Children ran in their four sports teams (Teams Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) for 15 minutes each to see how far we could run as a school in a combined time of one hour.
Wonderfully, we can reveal that the children managed to collectively run a staggering 72.1km, which is further than from our school to any of Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool!
Additionally, the efforts of the children have seen them raise a superb £225 for the Severn Hospice.
Well done to all the children and thank you to everyone who supported and donated towards such a worthy cause.

What a wonderful day we have had today raising money for Comic Relief by wearing red! We have also sold 60 official Red Noses!

The total raised (at last count) from wearing red to school today is £75.00 - This is an amazing sum for our small school community and means that the following can be provided as a direct result of your generosity:
-75 meals can be provided for children at school or
-15 group session for someone living with HIV or
-3 Critic calls to a crisis helpline or
-1 night of emergency shelter

The sale of 60 red noses means we have sent a further £120 to Comic relief, this enables the following to be provided as a direct result of these sales:
- 120 meals can be provided for children at school or
-24 group session for someone living with HIV or
-6 Critic calls to a crisis helpline or
-2 nights of emergency shelter

Our combined donations of £195 enables to following:
-195 meals can be provided for children at school or
-39 group session for someone living with HIV or
-9 Critic calls to a crisis helpline or
-3 nights of emergency shelter

These figures really do prove that your money will be going to worthy causes who will use it to truly make a difference both in the UK and abroad!
We may be a small school in the middle of Shropshire but, my goodness, what a difference we make - and what an incredibly big heart we have!

West Midlands Air Ambulance- Friday, 7th February 2025
25/02/2025 1:43 PM

Pip Machin from the charity delivered a whole school assembly this morning and then this afternoon classes ventured up to the Cricket Club to see the Helipod and have a seat where the paramedic would sit in a real aircraft.

Robin from the charity told the children all about the capabilities of the helicopters and the vital role they play in our area.

The Air ambulances tend to fly at 12,000ft but can go up to as high as 28,000ft. They have 1 new aircraft too, the new model enables a paramedic and Doctor to sit in the rear with the patients ensuring that hospital grade care is delivered whilst on board. The are able to deliver intravenous drugs and intubate patients should they require that advanced level of care.

The Air Ambulance also carries blood which they collect from the QE regularly meaning they are able to give that vital source of life too, should they not require it, it is returned to the QE where it is used there, so no product ever goes to waste!

The Helicopters are flown by ex military pilots meaning the charity doesn't have to spend excessive amounts on training, they are already highly skilled in the field. They also don't fly at night unless they have to, as it is more dangerous to do so. during night time hours the critical care cars are dispatched and they carry exactly the same amount of kit and resources as the helicopters, including qualified Doctors and Paramedics.

Each air craft and vehicle carries £150,000 worth of life saving equipment!

We were thrilled to welcome Mickey Demetriou, Captain of Crewe Alexandra Football Club into school today. Mickey was so gracious and spent time answering all the children's questions. We have learnt that Mickey is originally from Sussex and that he grew up supporting Chelsea Football Club as that was who his dad supported! Mickey still supports Chelsea and his favourite player of all time Gianfranco Zola. Mickey has scored over 40 goals in his 18 year career with 10 of those being last season alone - Cracking season! He has been given 20 yellow cards but thankfully only been sent off once (when playing for Newport) - this was however for 2 disputable yellow cards and not a straight red - Phew! Mickey never gets bored of football and is so thankful that he gets to do the sport he loves daily! Crewe Alexandra Football Club train 4 times a week and play most weekends and sometimes on Tuesdays too! Mickey puts his Captainship down to hard work, team spirit and ensuring that the whole team are working as one for the best outcomes for the club! What a great ethos and mindset! Mickey has also signed some photos and given out a voucher for a free child's ticket for this Fridays match against Colchester (1 child goes free with every fee paying adult - please see booking terms and conditions). The children will be coming home with these tomorrow! Mickey also signed a Club strip for us which we will be proudly displaying in our Dasaolu Cabinet for all the admire! Thanks so much to Mickey and to Crewe Alexandra Football Club The children (and Mr Thompson) loved your visit!
